Privacy policy

In short: Drive Storage Analyser reads information about your Google Drive™ files so it can show you what takes up space. That information stays in your own browser, on your own computer. It is never sent to me or to anyone else, and I never see it.
Who I am
Drive Storage Analyser is made by Axel Drioli, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. For anything about this policy or your data, email axel@soundingwild.com.
What the extension reads from Google
With your permission (Google's “see information about your Google Drive files” access), the extension reads, for each file and folder in your Drive:
- its name, type, size and the storage it uses;
- which folder it sits in;
- when it was last changed, and whether it's in the trash;
- its checksum (a fingerprint used to find exact duplicates);
- the name and email address of its owner;
- your own Google account's email address and storage totals.
It can't open the contents of your files, and it can't create, change, move, share or delete anything.
Where that information goes
- It stays on your computer. Everything is stored in your browser's own storage, on the computer where you installed the extension.
- Google is the only place the extension talks to. It sends requests to Google's servers to read your file list, and to Google's sign-in service to get and renew access.
- No server of mine, no analytics, no adverts, no tracking. Nothing is sold, shared or used for anything except showing you your own storage.
- The sign-in access Google gives the extension is stored in your browser too, and expires after about an hour. The extension quietly renews it while you're signed in to Google in Chrome.
- If you choose to export a list (CSV or file index), it's saved to your own Downloads folder.
Google API data: Limited Use
Drive Storage Analyser's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to show you your own storage, is never transferred to anyone, is never used for advertising, and is never read by people.
Deleting your data
- Removing the extension in
chrome://extensionsdeletes everything it stored. - Removing an account inside the extension deletes that account's saved data.
- To withdraw its Google access, go to myaccount.google.com/connections and remove Drive Storage Analyser.
If you email me
If you send feedback or a question, I receive your email address and what you write. I use them only to reply and to improve the app. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering you and running the beta. I keep beta emails until the beta ends and for up to 12 months after, then delete them. My email is provided by Google Workspace.
This website
This site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security for a short time. The site uses no cookies, analytics or tracking.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data I hold about you, object to how I use it, or ask me to limit it. Since your Drive information never reaches me, the only data I could hold about you is any email you've sent. To use your rights, email me. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The app isn't aimed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date. If a change affects how your Drive information is handled, I'll say so in the app before it applies.
